Three stages, and the third is the one that decides the day. Races are lost in the last quarter far more often than in the first — the pace that felt comfortable at 10 km turns out to have been a loan, and it gets called in somewhere after 30.

Learning to hold the end together takes years, and the medals from the races where it worked are the ones worth looking at.

Runners who repeat the same race to work on pacing end up with sets of near-identical medals. Those look better grouped than mixed in by date.

Grouping by event uses more rail than hanging tight. Add a width if that is the plan.

Steel, not sheet metal with paint on it

The whole medal display is one panel of AISI 304 stainless steel (V2A / 1.4301), 2.5-3 mm thick according to width. Cheap racks are thin painted steel and the paint goes first, usually at a corner.

The medals hang from a continuous rail, which is the reason a full display still looks even rather than bunched around fixed points.

Getting it on the wall

Stainless standoffs, screws, plugs and a paper template are all in the box. Tape the template up, mark two holes, drill, and it is done inside a quarter of an hour.

Running out of room

Buy a second and line it up directly beneath or beside this one — the proportions are designed so a pair looks intentional. The widest version holds up to 110 medals across three rails.
